Pueblo of Isletas pottery artist Rowan Harrison will exhibiting his artwork that inspires his pottery designs. Rowan is an active presenter at the Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center, where he provides various workshops throughout the year inspiring visitors of pottery art and connecting ancient indigenous methods of hand coiled pottery making.

The culture center is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 5pm, if you are interested in visiting the exhibit.

Join us at the visitor center for a free presentation about recovery after the devastating Woolsey Fire in 2018.

Author, journalist, photographer, and naturalist Suzanne Guldimann lives in the Woolsey Fire burn zone and has covered the disaster and its aftermath extensively for the local media, with articles featured in the Messenger Mountain News, the Malibu Surfside News, Malibu Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. Over the past year, Suzanne has chronicled the natural recovery process not only in words but with more than 10,000 photographs. In this presentation, she shares images and stories that document a remarkable year of devastation, regrowth, and transformation.

After the 2:00 pm program, Celleste & Eric Dick’s song and video, We Go On (California Strong), will be presented, followed by a Q&A.

Make a leather Medallion with Cherokee Artists Matthew “WhiteBear” and Marc “SmilingWolf” McMasters. Strongly advise arriving early. There is a morning workshop that begins promptly at 10am, the second workshop begins at 1pm. Materials will be provided. All ages are welcome. Ticket is required for each person attending workshop, even though they may not be participating in the activity.  Porch has limited space.

Hupa Native Kat High will present two workshops on how to make yucca cordage bracelets from scratch. The morning workshop starts promptly at 10am, and the second workshop will begin at 1pm. Be ready to get a little messy, as making cordage requires to soak the materials in water and strain the juices out of the plant. Limited materials provided. Recommended for ages 10 and up. Please be on time.
