Like us, birds eat different foods and their beaks are their tools! Listen to ranger as he talks about different bird beaks and explains how they are all important for the bird’s survival and health of the environment. Follow along as you watch with our worksheet!

Join Ranger Xóchitl for a Bilingual Junior Ranger Owl program and learn more about owls and the pellets they produce. During this program you will learn what makes owls great hunters and participate in activities from the comfort of your home. Activities include figuring out how well an owl’s hearing is and following up with dissecting an owl pellet. Video is on our Facebook page.

Have you had the chance to take a look at plants up close? What use do native plants have? Observe plants up close and use one of these booklets to go on a scavenger hunt in the gardens at King Gillette Ranch or the Satwiwa Culture Center at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa. You could also look for these plants at home or parks near you!
Once you finished, add this as your Junior Ranger Summer Camp activity for “Native Plant Week” and send it to us at samokids@nps.gov.
