Join our resident film enthusiast for a guided hike to view film and television locations, and learn the Hollywood history of Franklin Canyon. Franklin Canyon has been the chosen film location for Hollywood productions since the silent film era. Come and walk in the steps of Andy Griffith, Capt Kirk, and Clark Gable.
Meets outside the Sooky Goldman Nature Center.
The Silent Society of Hollywood Heritage will return for a special fundraiser presentation of the Harold Lloyd classic comedy The Kid Brother (1927). All proceeds will go to the Santa Monica Mountains Fund to support the rebuilding of the western town that was destroyed in the Woolsey Fire in November of last year. “King of the Radio Cowboys,” Will Ryan will perform prior to the film. The surviving train station will provide a platform for the screen. Plastic folding chairs will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own chair. Please bring a flashlight. Although all electric lighting was lost, we will have both solar and battery operated lights. New picnic tables will also be available. So come early with a picnic dinner!
