Plein air paint-outs are great ways to meet other artists and discover new sites for inspiration. All plein air artists and art enthusiasts are welcome to participate, no membership required. Bring your own art supplies, water, lunch, sunscreen and repellent, hat and walking shoes. We meet in the parking area. Rain cancels the paint-out. See our website for upcoming paint outs. A popular location for Hollywood movies. Seaside inspirations include huge rock formations, shoreline views, the crashing surf on the rocks below and the lifeguard stations standing sentinel over the vast Pacific. Known to surfers as “Leo’s” or “Secos”. On big surf days rides from the exposed rocks to the staircase on perfect waves are possible. Facing inland, we can view the mountain vistas and thick groves of sycamores. Look for fellow artists at Lifeguard Station #2, on the beach or on the bluffs. Painting demonstration at 9:00 a.m. A positive group critique at 12 noon.
Take PCH west of Kanan Dume Road for 8.5 miles until you see Park Entrance on your right. See Google Maps for driving directions. Parking fee or park on PCH for free. Facilities.
